HAPPY: on a shedule or not?
Happy Pill?
In secondary
school we all said life would be so much better when we get into the
university. Life was probably at the highest peak for some of us (was it for
me?), while for the rest of us it was a ‘please be over’ kind of thing. We most
times convince ourselves that life will be better after we get that Bachelor
Degree. Then we get pissed off at the government when our degree doesn’t fetch
us that million naira job or that corner office.
We convince
ourselves that life would be so much better after marriage but we forget that
marriage comes with its own set of problems. It comes with nagging, roaming
eyes, mistrust, sexual problems and lets not forget in-laws (yep!).
We say it would
definitely get better once a mini us is running around the house (kaffy
really?!),then we are frustrated that the kids aren’t growing as fast as you
would want them to, we start to calculate how much we could have spent on
buying that nice dress in the boutique or ordering from #Jumia instead of using
it to buy diapers or books they hate on sight, we forget that they have to pass
the teenagers phase and that is a whole a lot of other problem to deal with ;
you know it. We then tell ourselves that ‘thank God they would soon get get
married’ then we will certainly be happy. Are we really happy or should I say
did we overestimate our happy’.
We tell ourselves
that our life will be so great when our partner buckles up , gets a steady job,
makes trillions, have a nice ride( more than one of course) and maybe even own
a yatch to take us around the world..lol
The fact is that
we would never be happy if we keep putting happy on a schedule. Truth be told
we would always have problems, it is best to keep your feet on the ground and
slap yourself with a tough loaf of reality and just be happy just because…
Alfred D Souza said, "For a long time it
had seemed to me that life was about to begin -real life.
But there was always
some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished
business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin.
At last it dawned
on me that these obstacles were my life."
(I feel serious).
So stop waiting
for that 1st class degree, that big house, that handsome and rich
husband (you should probably wait for this one), those lovely but troublesome
mini us, that mwaahh job and so on to be crazy happy. I am starting to learn happiness
is a journey, not a destination (Amen to that).
So, Work like you
don't need money.
Love like you've
never been hurt (this one can be difficult) and
Dance Like
everyone is watching but you don’t give a damn cos you are that happy :)
