Happy Birthday to me: a quarter down


Is that a grey hair on my head?! My amazing dad sent me a heartwarming message (I love that man!) and although I will be alone and busy with my dissertation, I figured why not share some things this Leo soul has in her ‘she’ mind.
1.       Love yourself, love yourself and love yourself. Once that happens, every other person will follow your lead.
2.       Always remember God. He is and always will be the only one in your corner if you let Him
3.       Only seek advice from people that don’t talk too much. They listen and are of more help.
4.       Freewill sometimes is a prison
5.       Make an impact even when it seems too small or insignificant
6.       There is nothing wrong with taking the other road or being left behind
7.       I don’t believe in white or black, grey and different shades of grey is more like it
8.       Things go a little bit better when you plan it
9.       Planning without God is a waste
10.   Flat stomach, a fit body can do a lot for your self confidence
    
11.   People are who they are, just accept their difference without trying to change them
12.   Mothers are everything!
13.   Multitasking is really not my thing but I am still a superwoman regardless of the stereotype
14.   Different people, different timeline. Never compare your journey to someone else’s.
15.   Friends are not overrated, get you some but keep a close circle.

17.   Long distance relationships are shitty, don’t!
18.   Imagination spurred on by education is amazing. Never underestimate education.
19.   Nobody will do anything for you. Na only you waka come
20.   Setting an alarm is useless for me. My mindset, willingness and desire to get up or do something is everything.
21.   Being direct is a gift to other people and my own piece of mind
22.   The world would probably run out of rice. I need a new best.
23.   I pick texting over all forms of communication, texting, not IMs.
24.   I still get bored of things that don’t capture my soul
25.   Trying to think of something profound to add…. I give up!

I am grateful to be alive and kicking. I was in a situation that could have changed this story but Allah thinks I am worthy to be saved (Alhamdulillah) and I am going to try to be (In Shaa Allah).

10 THINGS NEVER TO SAY TO A DEPRESSED PERSON D epression is neither a normal nor an easy journey. Some people are more prone to it than others. I have been ‘normal’ and I have felt depression, so I can say i have been a player for both teams and I understand to an extent what each team is about. This list was born out of my feeling ‘sick’ each time my best friend would ask me “how do you feel today?”   I wince every single time I see that message and I draw back from her a little bit farther.
