GRATITUDE; the way to getting more magically.
Whoever has will
be given more, and he will have abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he
has will be taken from him

My best quote for now
That is a quote that has been around
over the years, and what it is referring to is GRATITUDE (the state of being
grateful, appreciation, thankful for the tings we have), it has been passed
from generation to generation and it begs the question ‘why should we really be
grateful?’
My young days, I always took things for
granted, like every kid I think. Because we didn’t really know what is up with
the real world. I took so many things
for granted , like the fact that I eat more than 3 times in a day (what ever I
felt like ), I took for granted good health, I felt like I deserved to be
healthy and so many more things. I didn’t express gratitude for the things I
had, I was always wishing to have other things. I remember in boarding school I
was always wishing I had some of Aisha’s foot wears, i wanted to be as pretty as Lola, as tall as Adegbo and i wanted Juliet’s provisions and
so many other things, and mind you I had this things in my own portion (my footwear wasn't even rubber)
but I think indirectly I wanted what their parents offered or i what they had…as a young girl, it
wasn't a state of mind to loose sleep over, but as I grew up, I started to see
the errors of my train of thought and I began to appreciate things around me
more. As I saw more and more of the world out there, I realized all the things
I’d been given are not rights, I don’t deserve them but I have them.
I look at the issue in Borno,
Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Malaysia, Pakistan and the likes and I realize I could
have been born to those part of the world but I am still in my house and I am
safe
I see people that don’t have the
parts of their body complete and I still have my 5 sensory organs complete, working
perfectly. I eat in a plate, I sleep on a bed, I can’t say the same for some
people. I still draw breathe, so what do I have to complain about. I should be overly
grateful.
But thing is, we human beings
aren't hardwired to be grateful, we always tend to focus on what we are missing
in our lives, what problem is plaguing us rather then appreciating what we
have, even if it is little. There is something I say a lot “Greed is a good
motivation”, this quote further says that as human we always want more. It is
not a crime to want more but been grateful for what you have sincerely gets you
what you want faster. I promise.
I am not as religious as I would
like to be but I finally understand. Personally I tell people that over think
stuff that they should better be grateful, I am sure we all say that to people,
but I don’t think we fully understand what been grateful gives us back in return ( I just fully did myself) .
The Koran talks about gratitude;
“And (remember) when God
proclaimed: ‘if you are grateful I will give you more; but if you are
ungrateful verily my punishment is indeed severe.”
(Nike, I’m quoting. Eat you heart
out)
The bible talks about gratitude;
“Whoever has gratitude will be
given more, and he or she will have abundance. Whoever does not have gratitude,
even what he or she has will be taken from him or her.
Apart from these significant books
telling us to better be grateful else we could loose even what we have already…
Great philosophers also often express gratitude to other people; Albert
Einstein, Isaac Newton, Martin Luther, Leo Da Vinci, Gandhi and lot of others
(they are the smart people, so..). The universal law even agrees too. Apparently the law of attraction (you know,
the one that governs the energy in the universe) says “like attract like”. It
is because of the LOA that every cell in the human body is held together and
even the substance of every material. The law also applies to our thought and
feelings because they are energies too, whatever you feel or think you attract
to you.
If you always look at the
negatives in you life, you would attract negative but if you choose to always
look at the positive in your life regardless of the situation, you would
magnetise positive thing…
Being grateful requires practice because one
has to be sincere and like I said we aren’t hardwired to be grateful, we are
all partial narcissist by nature. Well I have been practicing gratitude and I do
that everyday by acknowledging what I have to be grateful for, saying it out
loud and saying Alhamdulilah, Thank you God.. Every time I say that I feel
lighter…TADA! It is not hard but we have
to constantly and sincerely express gratitude to reap the benefits.
I know it is hard to be grateful
in difficult situations (blood, bone and flesh after all) but there are hundred
of thousands of things that could have been worse (think about it), all you
have to be is grateful and you would feel happier, you would set things in perspective,
you would have a clear view basically and lets not forget, you attract positive
things in you life.
I am grateful for the gift of life, for my parents ,siblings,
partner, friends, air, sun, rain, organs, bed,2nd chances, music,
camera phones, clothes, disappointments, happy days, crushes, TV, water,
plants, trees, psp, electricity, teachers, fake friends, heartbreaks, a
mind ………….the list is endless. I am just
grateful….this might seem like silly things but they are basic reasons to be
grateful.
Gratitude is the key to living
happier…
