Why me?, Why you??,Why us???

I was going to write about laziness (that defines me right now) but i changed my mind. One of my friend is going through something that i know one way or the  other we all have been through it (it is unique for everyone). Sometimes, some things happen that makes us question our faith. I am a ‘have faith’ kind of girl, i believe that anything that is suppose to happen would happen if God says ‘go ahead’. Why? Because i have seen people face hardship or difficult times and they have come out stronger, i have seen people scale mountains and realised it was their faith in the Lord that helped them scale through. Like I have read some where
“The lord doesn’t burden us with more than we can handle”
He knows we are capable of getting through any hardship he throws at us; the point now is we have to trust that he is right beside us and he knows what he is doing.
I always tell my friend Kaffy a story i heard from an Imam when I was little :
There was struggling mother(she was constantly praying for her son to return safely home from where he went), her son is suppose to be coming back from somewhere that very day via sea. So she took out her last yam flour(elubo) to sell so she could prepare a better meal for the son. While hawking, she fell down with the yam flour (when i heard this part I almost cried). This woman cried and cried!. The Imam laughed, i couldn’t understand how it was suppose to be a good thing or a funny thing. I guess the Imam was waiting for our reaction, he later continued.
He said most of us would think ‘ it isn’t fair, an old woman struggling to feed her son abi?’ and we all nodded. He replied that we would sometimes not understand how God works, we just have to believe that he is working on our side .The yam flour that poured into the wind that day was used to serve as a cement to stop the ship(that the son was on) from sinking..
When I heard this (I finally did cry) I understood....Point is, God works in miraculous ways, ways beyond what we sometimes can fathom. i always hold this story when things that are beyond my control happen (till date)

This said, our faith still gets shaken up when bad things happen (at the end of the day, we are just a combination of flesh, bone and blood). So how do we at least hold on to our faith when things are going down south?

When i am going through difficult times i actually pray (and kaffy would do ‘yimu’).i might not pray my 5times regularly but i get down on my mat and talk to the Lord or do so while I am sitting or I keep saying 'Lahilah ah illalah'. When I don’t know what else to do, It helps!

God doesn’t say ‘Yes’ to all prayers, sometimes we get the ‘No’... You have to understand that there is really nobody that is without a problem. Everyone is fighting their own unique battles. I just say “God you know what you are doing oooo!”

They say when you listen to other people’s problems/issues you become grateful. Listening to others doesn’t mean ‘i better pass this guy’ rather it gives us hope that things would be okay eventually and it makes us grateful for what we have. To me that why we muslims fast (Ramadan), to understand the sufferings of other people, to pray for them while being grateful for what we have

Be positive: always have it at the back of your mind that everything would be fine (that is what i say most)..ALL IS WELL(thanks to 3idiots for making this phrase popular)

Talk to people that can help (even if what they can do is to lift your spirits).

All this is easier said than done but life holds no guarantees, but knowing all this doesn’t make things any easier when we face a crisis. Just know that :You are not alone. Pray to your creator, Allow others to help (half shared is really half solved), find moments for reflection alone, connect with your loved ones(they are needed), stay positive and if you begin to feel you are too sad , reach out and talk/cry to someone you trust...
Hope all this helps
